Running In Circles 365 |
Hi, I'm Liz. 18. I drink lots of coffee and tea, run lots of miles, and I'm always dreaming. |
Ok, so that’s an exaggeration, but it was a hard run! Our official first day of track workout was a 35 minute canyon run, which turns into a 65-70 minute run by the time you get down. On the way up, my poor calves were literally going to shrivel up and fall off my legs! It hurt so badly and I really wanted to walk, but our new distance coach made me push through it, and I’m so thankful that she did (she’s going to be a great coach! Much better than my xc coach, who is only an assistant during track). At 25 minutes, she told me to go hard for 5 more minutes, so I kept plugging along. At almost 30, I saw a sign up ahead and thought, “Just get to there and then you can stop.” When I reached the sign, my watch read 30:47. I stopped and walked in a circle, tangling with the idea of finishing out for the full 35. I knew I wouldn’t be completely satisfied unless I finished, but I also was dreading the calf pain. So, I decided to go for it. I had gotten that far, so what was a measly 4 more minutes?
I’m so glad I pushed myself to go a little farther. Right now though, my legs are utterly and gracelessly dead. Which is why I am going to go ice! Yipee….bone chilling water is so much fun! But I know it will feel good and I will be grateful tomorrow! Off to the ice bucket then!
P.S. I just need to photograph the oat muffins I made, and then I will post the recipe. This may not (read: most certainly won’t) happen until the weekend.
Woops my 10 minute study break turned into a whole year

It’s kind of weird to be home.
But for reals though. They pretty much rock.
